You? Compared to who?

you

“Comparison is the thief to potential..”

(You may have to read that a couple of times to let it sink in.)

It’s so easy to compare yourself to someone else. But the problem with comparison is that you’re putting a baseline on your abilities and a ceiling on your potential.

The truth is, you have no idea what you’re fully capable of. How could you? Because this is the furthest you’ve ever been & you’re weighing your future based on where you’ve come from or gone through.

AKA your past.

Oh, but it’s taking you longer to get the promotion, own the spot, lose the weight, generate the followers, or save for the house?

Compared to who?

Who cares?

Who cares what took the other person 7 months is taking you 7 years.

Good job to the one who lost 80 lbs in 9 months, but it’s taking me 2 years.

He can run a marathon & you can barely run a mile? Roger that.

While she’s getting her PhD, you’re trying to get through Stats 201.

How long it takes or is taking you is irrelevant. That’s their race, now run yours.

Your future will be written in the ink of your sweat and it’ll exceed your wildest expectations.

But…

You’ve got to stop looking side to side in comparison.

Because….comparison is stealing your potential.

You can look from side to side for motivation.

You can look from side to side to avoid the pitfalls and mistakes of others.

But you cannot look side to side & compare their now with yours.

Your work is unfinished.

Sure you started later…

Sure you screwed up big time…

Sure you have disadvantages…

But keep your head straight and keep doing.

Because “Until” is your time frame.

Put in the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. Whatever it takes to W.I.N.

What Is Necessary to get a little further than I did yesterday? That’s the only comparison that matters.
